Job Details

Tesla is looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer or Designer to be part of the Building Infrastructure Engineering Team at Gigafactory 1. To help create and optimize the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, producing innovative detailed designs of HVAC, hydronic and other factory utility systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Sparks, NV.

Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems for diverse building types
  • Develop construction documents from initial concepts through final design
  • Manage high-quality BIM (Revit) models, engineering drawings, and PIDs for all mechanical systems
  • Support projects throughout construction with field coordination, submittal/RFI review, and as-built documentation
  • Collaborate across stakeholders and disciplines, creatively resolving design challenges
  • Prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring high-quality and productive outcomes

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience designing HVAC and hydronic systems
  • Expert knowledge of Revit MEP and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Positive, enthusiastic, fast learner, can-do mindset and passionate about Tesla's mission
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems including Air Handling Units, Fans/Blowers, Hazardous Exhaust, Terminal Units, Air Compressors, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Heat Exchangers
  • Familiar with design calculations such as duct/pipe sizing, duct/pipe pressure drop, heat load calculations and equipment selection
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards IECC, IMC, IPC/UPC, SMACNA, and ASHRAE 62/90.1
