Network Engineer Job Description
This role focuses on enterprise-level network implementation and support, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and security technologies. The Network Engineer will deliver innovative solutions to customers remotely and on-site, ensuring high-quality project execution and ongoing technical support.
Responsibilities:
- Implement & support enterprise networks: Plan, configure, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, wireless, and security systems.
- Technical diagnostics: Resolve customer issues efficiently using industry best practices.
- Network upgrades/outages: Provide on-site support, including flexible hours when required.
- Documentation: Create detailed diagrams and reports using Microsoft Visio/Microsoft Project.
- Billing accuracy: Track and report service hours for accurate customer invoicing.
- Technology updates: Continuously develop skills in emerging processes and systems.
- Certifications: Maintain up-to-date technical certifications per company standards.
Qualifications:
- Network fundamentals: Expertise in LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, Radius, Syslog services, and VPN technologies (L2L, Remote VPN, PPTP).
- Routing protocols: Practical experience in OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast.
- WAN technologies: Knowledge of MetroE, VPLS, MPLS, PTP links, and QoS (L2 QoS, LLQ, CBWFQ, policing, traffic shaping).
- Tools & diagnostics: Experience with Sniffer traces and interpreting results.
- Security protocols: Proficiency in Radius and TACACS+.
- Project management: Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Technical documentation: Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.
- Interpersonal skills: Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
- Passion for learning and applying new technologies in customer environments.
