Network Engineer Job Description


This role focuses on enterprise-level network implementation and support, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and security technologies. The Network Engineer will deliver innovative solutions to customers remotely and on-site, ensuring high-quality project execution and ongoing technical support.



Responsibilities:



  • Implement & support enterprise networks: Plan, configure, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, wireless, and security systems.

  • Technical diagnostics: Resolve customer issues efficiently using industry best practices.

  • Network upgrades/outages: Provide on-site support, including flexible hours when required.

  • Documentation: Create detailed diagrams and reports using Microsoft Visio/Microsoft Project.

  • Billing accuracy: Track and report service hours for accurate customer invoicing.

  • Technology updates: Continuously develop skills in emerging processes and systems.

  • Certifications: Maintain up-to-date technical certifications per company standards.



Qualifications:



  • Network fundamentals: Expertise in LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, Radius, Syslog services, and VPN technologies (L2L, Remote VPN, PPTP).

  • Routing protocols: Practical experience in OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast.

  • WAN technologies: Knowledge of MetroE, VPLS, MPLS, PTP links, and QoS (L2 QoS, LLQ, CBWFQ, policing, traffic shaping).

  • Tools & diagnostics: Experience with Sniffer traces and interpreting results.

  • Security protocols: Proficiency in Radius and TACACS+.

  • Project management: Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Technical documentation: Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.

  • Interpersonal skills: Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.

  • Passion for learning and applying new technologies in customer environments.
