Job Description Summary
This position in Services Projects for Gas Power Controls Engineering will be the senior technical leader for development and sustaining engineering for generator control systems hardware products including excitation, generator protection, and static starters for the aftermarket industry. This role will be focused on development of GE Vernova generator system conversions, modifications, and upgrades products based on EX2100e and LS2100e generator controls platforms. In addition, this role is responsible as the senior engineering process and tools development, standardization, and implementation expert in support of Gas Power Engineering requirements.

This senior platform engineer is critical to support the global controls services engineering project execution effectiveness and to drive productive growth in the generator controls market space. As a subject matter expert on engineering processes and tools including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications, this role drives the methods for how the entire global engineering team performs their daily work effectively.

The base pay range for this position is $ 122,300-175,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15%performance bonvariable incentive compensation/equity.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

What You'll Do:
- Manage the development and sustainment of generator control system hardware in coordination with senior generator controls application software engineers to meet specifications defined by product line leadership
- Manage the development and configuration of engineering business systems, processes, and tools for the global engineering organization
- Provide detailed technical assessment of current and emerging generator control and power conversion related technologies
- Support the collection of customer and regulatory requirements to drive improved product performance, value, and compliance
- Provide direct technical support to develop and present products to customers and OEMs
- Provide generator control hardware domain expertise to support the resolution of customer issues
- Provide technical support for the development of generator control and protection solutions for worldwide transactions
- Identify and support the development of quality improvement initiatives
- Provide input to the product life cycle planning process
- Technical leadership for development of system level documentation including cabinet/panel layouts, elementary control diagrams, and wiring schematics using 2D / 3D CAD systems
- Oversee supplier technical specifications and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with third party developers/vendors to create components used in generator control system designs
- Development of engineering, manufacturing, and installation work scopes, schedules, and cost estimates to facilitate total product commercial offerings
- Create work instructions to facilitate execution of product manufacturing and testing
- Support the commercial teams for technical inputs needed to generate customer proposals
- Support and influence new products and product sustaining requirements definition
- Ensure adequate system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability and safety requirements through design reviews
- Develop comprehensive test plans for generator control system verification and validation
- Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Enforce the application of controls design standards and practices
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of design experience in generator controls hardware engineering
- Minimum 15 years of experience with Controls SAP, GE Vernova PLM systems, and Autodesk 2D/3D CAD tools
- Minimum 10 years experience designing systems for use with GE Vernova EX2100/EX2100e and LS2100/LS2100e series control system platforms
- Minimum 10 years experience developing, implementing, and supporting engineering processes and tools
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
- Proven strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
What will make you stand out:
- Masters degree in engineering
- Direct extended experience upgrading GE Vernova Innovation Series drives, LS2100 static starters, EX2000 & EX2100 exciters
- Expert on Alterrex Diode Bridges and their replacement products
- Extensive experience developing engineering process documentation and providing training to engineers on processes and tools
- Subject matter expert in Autodesk Vault PDM software, Autodesk Inventor Solid Modeling CAD software, and AutoCAD Electrical and Mechanical two dimensional design software packages
- Subject matter expert in developing and implementing transition to SAP, PLM, and CAD tools
- Strong experience developing and documenting engineering processes in the Quality Management System (QMS)
- High experience providing technical mentoring and oversight to less experienced engineers
- Strong experience in power generation requisition, working with customers, project management or EPCs
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills to the global engineering team and to business leaders
- Demonstrated System Level thinking
- Agile product development process experience
- Experience in a matrix structure organization, working cross-functionally
