Job Description:

The Collaboration Network Architect III is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing collaboration solutions using Cisco technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of Cisco's collaboration portfolio, including Unified Communications, video conferencing, and collaboration tools, as well as the ability to integrate these solutions into the broader network infrastructure.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the architecture for voice communication systems, including VoIP, PBX, SIP, and unified communications platforms.
  • Provide strategic direction for the evolution of voice network infrastructure to meet current and future business needs.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and enforce best practices, standards, and guidelines for voice network design and operations.
  • Evaluate and select voice technologies, vendors, and solutions to ensure compatibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the implementation and integration of voice systems with other network and IT infrastructure components.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and risk assessments for voice networks.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of voice systems, including protection against fraud and adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., E911, PCI DSS).
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) to resolve complex issues and provide guidance to engineering teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in voice and unified communications.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex collaboration-related issues, such as call quality problems, connectivity issues, and interoperability challenges.
  • Conduct detailed root cause analysis and implement solutions to resolve incidents promptly and minimize impact on business operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of collaboration network configurations, dial plans, and operational procedures.
  • Update documentation as changes are implemented to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to collaboration engineering teams, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (networking, systems, security) to integrate collaboration solutions into overall IT infrastructure projects


General Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience:
  • 5 or more years of experience in voice network engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or architecture role required.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Unity Connection, Cisco Voice Gateways, and collaboration endpoints.


License/Certification/Registration: Cisco certifications such as CCNP Collaboration, CCVP or equivalent highly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
  • In-depth knowledge of VoIP technologies, SIP, RTP, and unified communications platforms (e.g., Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Avaya, Microsoft Teams).
  • Strong expertise in PBX systems, SIP trunking, call center technologies, and collaboration tools.
  • Proficiency in designing voice network solutions for scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including QoS, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based voice solutions and architectures (e.g., Zoom Phone, RingCentral, AWS Connect).
  • Proven experience in developing technical documentation and architectural diagrams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools for voice system management.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and other advanced networking technologies.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and enterprise architecture frameworks.
