HDR Engineering is looking for a Railroad CADD Technician to join our Freight Rail group in the Missoula, MT office. The successful candidate will support our local team comprised of engineers, project managers, and industrial leaders that provides technical design and support for large and small scale engineering projects across the country. Our local Montana team supports infrastructure improvements for railroad clients of all sizes to help improve safety and efficiency in our communities. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who wants to learn and take on new challenges.

The primary duties of the position will be to prepare bridge rehabilitation or replacement related drawings such as plan and elevation views, typical sections, grading plans, foundation plans and details, detailed concrete reinforcing plans, shop quality steel fabrication plans, and other related drawings.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Railroad CADD Technician, we'll count on you to:

Create detailed drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided design software

Demonstrate experience in structural drafting of all phases of the construction documents and create 2-D and 3-D structural drawings in BIM software from engineering sketches and through team collaboration.

Demonstrate knowledge of procedures for production of design development and construction documents, and a thorough knowledge of structural planning, drafting, detailing and building material

Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential
  • Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
