Technical Product Owner

Position Summary:

As a Technical Product Owner (TPO) you will drive forward technology product ownership and capability pull-through for our Global Trade products aligned with the business objectives. You will advance product & capability roadmap development of multiple new technologies. Additionally, you will partner with Domain Leads, Solution Leads, and Architects as well as domain professionals across departments and Data Architecture on data capabilities to enable their design, build, and ongoing sustainment. We are a customer and product-centric team, where everything we do starts and ends with the customer.

Candidates can be Remote or will work in a hybrid model with 2-3 days being in the Johnson Hall location in New Brunswick, NJ

Key Responsibilities:

· Shape the product vision / roadmap and steer the team in delivering products / platforms features / work oriented around business impact

· Shape and prioritize backlog, utilizing business expertise and understanding of customer needs, ensuring the market has been defined to capture all required customers, translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria

· Negotiate with the business in balancing business value with technical feasibility while prioritizing stories and features, optimizing cost, and improving delivery efficiency

· Act as the “voice of the customer” within the team to ensure the team “builds the right thing”

· Plan resourcing for the team (i.e. new role, change in role), create ASOE requests, interview, select and onboard members to join the team

· Act as direct manager for Product Analysts and/or other team members as required, ensuring strong coaching and development support

· Accountable for shaping and hitting team Key Results

· Work closely with Product/Platform Manager to establish the products’ business value and support messaging, comms and customer outreach as necessary

· Ensure the products / features / work meets relevant security, privacy & compliance standards

· Drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle, including incorporating user feedback and insights into the next build iteration

· Drive engagement with third parties to support delivery of team objectives

· Act as primary Technical Point of Contact for licensed 3rd-party Trade Compliance systems as dictated

· Drive selection of solution options, work with the Lead Engineer to assess tech elements of the solution prior to user testing

· Facilitate release planning, sprint planning and demos with stakeholders

· Interact with other Squads within the Product / Platform as part of synchronization ceremonies to implement cross-team tasks

· Drive reporting and analytics to provide visibility on team performance and monitor sprint metrics, user results, and business owners’ Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

· Work with Lead Engineer to balance tech debt with feature delivery

· Own and manage documentation and information

· Collaborate to ensure all partners are clear on product roadmap activities, design, interdependencies and timelines

· Actively participate in all team ceremonies; lead and optimize the flow of value using various tools and reporting cadence

Qualifications:

Required:

· Proven knowledge and experience in standard Global Trade Compliance practices, technology and supporting industry principles

· Experience gathering requirements and translating into a product vision by leveraging the expertise in product development, engineering and UX

· Deep understanding of business/processes and high-level understanding of high-quality digital product delivery

· Understanding of customer journeys and customer experience

· Experienced in managing a product backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics, attending product team ceremonies, removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up), to deliver projects quickly and efficiently with high value

· Foundational skills (at minimum) in Interface Mapping, Data Engineering, and SDLC

Preferred:

· Knowledge of JIRA

· Knowledge of Roadmunk

· Training in Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, Intelligent Automation and/or Emerging Technology
