Senior Telecom & Fiber Planning Analyst
1 Year Contract to Hire
Atlanta, GA (HYBRID)

This position supports the Telecom and Fiber organization by providing thought leadership on strategic technology direction, with a focus on fiber networks, broadband, and telecom infrastructure. At its core, this position ensures that investments in fiber and telecom technologies (cost, people, and infrastructure) are optimal, adhere to standards, and align with business needs. Consideration must be given to all delivery components, including resources, hardware, software, network assets, and external vendors. The Telecom & Fiber Planning Analyst provides thought leadership on technology direction and decisions based on emerging industry trends, best practices, and sound business processes. Responsibilities include defining and supporting network and technology investments that enable business objectives, expand customer connectivity, and advance the company s telecom and fiber capabilities to maintain a competitive advantage. The position builds and maintains strategic partnerships, clarifies and documents needs, elicits requirements, and supports business cases. This role participates in the execution of telecom and fiber projects, including requirements gathering, business case development, technology evaluation and acquisition, vendor engagement, and overall planning and delivery activities.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal business units to apply telecom and fiber expertise in streamlining processes, improving customer connectivity, reducing costs, and enhancing service reliability.
  • Provide insight into fiber and telecom advancements to anticipate needs and propose innovative solutions using emerging technologies such as 5G backhaul, smart grid communications, IoT integration, and broadband expansion.
  • Collaborate with business units to develop long-term telecom and fiber strategic plans, aligning infrastructure investments with enterprise goals.
  • Ensure compliance with telecom and fiber technology standards, and communicate the cost, availability, and cybersecurity implications of deviations.
  • Translate business requirements into telecom and fiber network solutions, ensuring technology priorities are driven by business needs to maximize investment value.
  • Communicate telecom and fiber technology initiatives, updates, and service changes; represent business unit needs and concerns.
  • Support development of business cases for fiber deployment, network upgrades, and telecom services, articulating ROI, operational benefits, and customer impact.
  • Provide consulting and vendor management support for fiber and telecom contracts, RFPs, Statements of Work, vendor demos, and budget planning.
  • Support budgeting and cost analysis of telecom products and fiber services.
  • Share best practices in telecom and fiber deployment across the company and externally.
  • Facilitate business unit prioritization of competing demands for telecom and fiber resources.
  • Support acceptance testing, training, and change management related to telecom and fiber projects.

Education
  • BS or BA degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Job Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in telecom, broadband, or fiber network planning, business analysis/consulting, or related technology portfolio management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in leading cross-functional telecom and fiber discussions, documenting network and business requirements.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization and with external vendors.
  • Strong consulting, financial analysis, vendor negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver strategic fiber and telecom roadmaps.
  • Understanding of telecom regulations, service delivery models, and industry trends impacting broadband and network services.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to anticipate and remove obstacles to project success.

    The compensation range for this position is $50 to $70/hr W2 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
