Job Title: Sr. Mainframe Developer CA IDEAL / Datacom
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Location: Remote

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in CA IDEAL and CA Datacom technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mainframe application development using COBOL, CICS, JCL, and VSAM, with experience in supporting complex enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using CA IDEAL in conjunction with CA Datacom.
  • Work on programs developed in COBOL/CICS, integrating with Datacom databases.
  • Design and execute JCL batch jobs; troubleshoot job failures and optimize performance.
  • Use VSAM datasets in application logic where needed.
  • Utilize Datacom QDRY and other DB utilities for querying and data operations.
  • Debug and test code using Xpeditor in batch and online environments.
  • Manage source code using Endevor and coordinate deployments.
  • Schedule and monitor batch jobs using Control-M.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with CA IDEAL and CA Datacom.
  • Proficient in COBOL, CICS, VSAM, and JCL.
  • Experience working with Datacom DB utilities (e.g., QDRY).
  • Familiarity with mainframe development tools like Xpeditor, Endevor, and Control-M.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a mainframe environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in performance tuning of Datacom databases.
  • Prior involvement in migration or modernization projects involving Datacom.
