Position Overview
Vaco is seeking a Field Service Operations Manager for a manufacturing client on the Northwest side of Indianapolis.
This role leads a growing technical service team responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting sustainable packaging systems. It requires hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership, and customer-facing professionalism to deliver top-tier service for distributors and end users.
You’ll manage daily field operations—installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer training—while guiding a small, expanding team in a fast-paced environment.
Travel: 30% on average, occasionally up to 50%.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
Manage and mentor a team of 2–3 Field Service Technicians (growing to 5).
Oversee installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Ensure excellent customer communication and service quality.
Support hiring, onboarding, and training.
Track service metrics, KPIs, and improvement initiatives.
Field & Technical Service
Lead or assist with equipment installs, upgrades, and configurations.
Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting.
Conduct preventive maintenance visits.
Manage machine, spare parts, and demo inventory.
Follow all safety and compliance standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service on demos, scheduling, and support.
Share field insights to improve customer experience and product performance.
Serve as liaison between technical and business teams.
Systems & Administration
Maintain service records, reports, and schedules in ERP systems.
Use Excel for tracking, analysis, and performance reporting.
Update documentation, SOPs, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma (associate’s or technical degree preferred).
3–5 years in field service, technical operations, or equipment support.
Leadership or mentoring experience.
ERP and Excel proficiency.
Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Willingness to travel 30–60%.
