Title: Network Engineer V (F5 Load Balancing)
Location: Owings Mills, MD - On-Site, 5 Days/Week
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Rate: $70/hr (W2)

Our client is hiring a Network Engineer V to support and sustain their enterprise F5 and Cisco network environments. This role is essential to maintaining stability, performance, and availability across a large-scale infrastructure supporting critical applications. This is a hands-on engineering role focused heavily on F5 BIG-IP load balancing within a large enterprise data center environment.
You must be comfortable working 100% on-site, collaborating closely with the team, and joining an on-call rotation (every third week once ramped up).

Responsibilities:
F5 Engineering
- Configure, install, upgrade, and support F5 BIG-IP appliances (LTM/APM).
- Build and maintain virtual servers, pools, nodes, profiles, monitors, SSO offloading.
- Perform packet-level troubleshooting (TCP/IP, PCAP, traffic flow analysis).
- Support high-availability and enterprise-scale F5 configurations.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and architecture standards.
- Participate in automation and documentation initiatives.
Cisco Networking (Secondary Focus)
- Support routing, switching, and network hardware in production environments.
- Install and configure Cisco equipment; apply patches and firmware updates.
- Troubleshoot network issues across campus and data center sites.
- Document diagrams, configurations, and network flows.
- Participate in planning for future upgrades.
Operational Expectations
- Standard schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM
- On-call rotation every 3rd week (after a 1-2 month ramp-up).
- Typical on-call volume: 1-2 after-hours tickets/week, always with backup support.
- Collaborate closely with engineering team members (ex: Griff, Lead Engineer).
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3-7 years experience in network engineering roles.
- Strong, hands-on F5 BIG-IP administration experience.
- Experience with LTM and APM required.
- F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS/301) or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise or data center environments.
- Hands-on Cisco networking (R&S, monitoring, troubleshooting).
- Strong communication and ability to work well with a team.
- Must be comfortable being on-site 5 days/week.
Preferred:
- Experience with iRules.
- Exposure to automation.
- Experience in highly regulated or financial environments.
