Position Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking a Product Owner on behalf of a leading insurance technology partner. This is a fully onsite role for a strategic thinker who enjoys guiding technical work from concept to delivery. The Product Owner will serve as the subject-matter expert for a specific value stream, manage the team backlog, and ensure development teams have clear, actionable requirements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities / Typical Day Look Like:
- Own and prioritize the team backlog using Microsoft Azure DevOps
- Write detailed user stories that translate business needs into technical requirements
- Gather and document business requirements and process flows
- Collaborate closely with development teams to clarify and align on priorities
- Document API mappings and data transformations
- Serve as the SME for assigned value stream
- Provide sprint demos, progress updates, and reports to stakeholders
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Pursue ongoing training and certification to enhance product ownership skills

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst roles
- Experience writing user stories in Azure DevOps or similar agile tools
- Strong documentation skills (BRDs, process flows)
- Familiarity with API integrations and data mapping
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and manage priorities
Plusses:
- Product Owner certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Insurance industry experience
- Experience with system-to-system conversions
- Technical curiosity and ability to quickly learn new tools and systems
