Overview:

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support the Global ECCO (Education Community Collaboration Online) project within the Defense Analysis department. Global ECCO strengthens the Regional Defense Fellowship Program (RDFP) by enhancing regional security collaboration through cutting-edge technology and educational tools. This role will directly support Global ECCO's mission by maintaining, improving, and developing secure cloud-based and offline applications that enable strategic classroom exercises across a global network of defense education institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the Global ECCO online strategic exercise application currently in production.
  • Configure, manage, and optimize Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure supporting exercise systems.
  • Develop and maintain support services and server-side applications for exercise coordination tools.
  • Collaborate with external developers to integrate new or redesigned exercises into the system.
  • Support system deployments for live exercise facilitation, including account creation, scaling services, and resolving technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain a deployable offline version of the application for field use.
  • Provide documentation, training, and ongoing support to Global ECCO team members.
  • Attend regular meetings to report on status, test applications, and gather feedback from users.
  • Work closely with end users to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues.
  • Submit a monthly report detailing progress, accomplishments, and short-term goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master s degree (M.S.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with each of the following:
    • Integrating web applications using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
    • Application development using Java technologies
    • Application development using Node.js
    • Automating AWS services and deployments
  • Proven ability to collaborate with developers and ensure compatibility with existing systems and infrastructure.

Additional Details:

  • Work Location: Remote (contractor site within the United States)
  • Equipment Provided: NPS will supply a computer and necessary accessories
  • Government-Furnished Materials: Technical documentation, initial onboarding, and access to required systems/software
