Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as an Instructional Designer supporting The Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering (CSFE).

As an Instructional Designer you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Instructional Designers joining our team to ensure that we provide state-of-the-art training solutions to the Naval Construction Force.

Contractors work 36 hours one week and 44 hours one week during a pay period. On the short week they get Friday off, so every-other Friday off. No overtime authorized, no weekend work.

How an Instructional Designer will Make an Impact:

  • Design and develop instructional approaches and interactive courseware to meeting training requirements:
  • Conduct analysis of training requirements and media requirements, to include job-tasks analysis, gap analysis, and media selection analysis.
  • Develop appropriate learning objectives and test methods and design instructionally valid training materials.
  • Design and develop instructional approaches and/or strategies to meet training requirements.
  • Develop instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training materials to include lesson plans, trainee guides, PowerPoint/HTML-based instructor presentation materials, and job aids.
  • Develop storyboards and flow diagrams for Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) delivery.
  • Develop creative media strategies for ILT/VILT/IMI presentation.
  • Develop test items based on learning objectives.
  • Interact with customer and subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of instructional content.
  • Conduct Levels 1 and 2 courseware evaluations.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

What You ll Need to Succeed:

Education:

A degree in Education/Psychology/Instructional Systems Design or associated degree is required for the for the Instructional Designer positions, and must have included accredited course work (study) in at least three of the following areas:

  • The principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness
  • The techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments
  • The techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training
  • The application of instructional technology in education and training, including learning management systems, learning assessment systems, and, or gamification techniques for learning

Combination of degree and years of experience if candidate has:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Education (Ed.D) Must have at least 2 years experience
  • Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree Must have at least 3 years experience
  • MA/MS/ME.d Must have at least 4 years experience
  • BA/BS Must have at least 6 years experience

Required Technical Skills:

  • Work with subject matter experts to design and develop training materials, including tasks, learning objectives, content, lesson maps, instructional strategies, learning events and activities, test items, and interface design and controls for Interactive Multi-Media products.
  • Develop video and audio scripts, and storyboards.
  • Develop lesson plans, exercise controller guides, on-the-job training handbooks.
  • Develop tests, testing plans, and associated documentation.
  • Assist in formative and summative evaluations.
