Senior (Lead) Network Engineer

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Network Engineering Lead as part of the Network Infrastructure Engineering team, contributes to deployment, operations and support of core technology infrastructure.

The Network Engineering Lead needs to have overall knowledge of Cisco network infrastructure with an additional focus on Cisco SDA deployment and design.

The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for the deployment, and ongoing management of Hospital-wide network services in a multicampus and internet-facing environment. The Lead Engineer provides mentorship and guidance on solution implementation and oversight of the quality of work. The lead engineer of the innovative network infrastructure team in planning, designing, and developing the LAN/WAN and extensive WIFI infrastructure, installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, operation centers, and communication links.

Provides leadership in the planning and design of network architecture in collaboration with the broader engineering team and architecture working groups. Investigate and recommend technology solutions as they relate to business needs and the overall network and technology architecture. The Lead continuously gains up-to-date detailed knowledge in network engineering and new technologies and is aware of improvements/changes in network protocols, and standards changes. The Lead regularly assesses capacity, identifies needs, and brings forward recommendations for new projects. Based on articulated design goals, recommends purchases, deploys and manages network infrastructure solutions including rewalls, routers, switches, network appliances, and other hardware.

The Lead Engineer is a hands-on master of the latest equipment, and architect, providing roadmaps for future technology. Leads a team of engineers and administrators and mentors them to success. Performs other duties as assigned.
