The Senior Reporting Engineer serves as a subject matter expert in defining, developing, and maintaining a robust reporting environment that aggregates and analyzes data across enterprise processes, technologies, and capabilities. The role provides leadership with insightful visualizations and metrics that support operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making to optimize business outcomes. A key component of this position includes the evaluation and re-engineering of existing reports, often originally created by operational users, to align with established team standards and industry best practices. This effort supports the centralization, maturity, and ongoing maintenance of reporting assets within the enterprise environment, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and sustainable value.

Responsibilities:
- Re-engineer and standardize existing reports created by operational users, ensuring alignment with defined team standards and industry best practices. This includes assessing current reporting solutions for data accuracy, consistency, and usability; centralizing and maturing these assets within the enterprise reporting environment; and establishing ongoing maintenance processes to ensure their continued value and reliability for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to elicit requirements and design optimal reporting solutions that meet business objectives.
- Lead the end-to-end development of management dashboards, encompassing requirements gathering, wireframing, data integration, solution design, testing, deployment, and ongoing support in production environments.
- Integrate and harmonize data from multiple sources, including relational databases, APIs, Excel files, and enterprise systems, to address complex reporting and analytical needs.
- Design, build, and automate dashboards, key reports, forms, and end-user portals using leading visualization platforms such as PowerBI and Power Platform.
- Utilize foundational programming skills in Spark-SQL & T- SQL to streamline manually operated reporting to fully automated solutions. extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), and analytical modeling
- Leverage the Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) to automate workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and deliver interactive business solutions.
- Implement and manage robust security protocols within visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI row-level and role-level security).
- Oversee the promotion of reporting solutions from development to production, ensuring quality, compliance, and scalability.
- Maintain and update automation and reporting resources to deliver sustained value, adapting to evolving business needs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to the development of reporting standards and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of complex SQL development experience (T-SQL, Spark SQL, My-SQL, PLSQL)
- SparkSQL & T SQL Expert Level required
Will be tested in real time in the interviewing process
- 3 years of Databricks Experience (Medallion & Data Architecture)
- Familiar with Databricks platform operations (Ex: Warehouse, Unity Catalog, Automated Jobs, Data Quality/Lineage)
- 3 years of traditional SQL Server programming/development
- Relational Databases & automation tooling (Task Manager, Agents, SSIS)
- Stored procedures, Indexing, CTE functions, etc
- 3 Years working within Power Platform Services
- Power BI Reporting Development with multiple languages (SQL & Dax)
- Experience with all ingestion methods > import/Direct Query/Live/API
- Reporting Visual development with functional development (Ex: Drill in/through, RLS (row Level Security), etc.
- Reporting Automation within service (working with admins to establish gateways, scheduling refreshes, configuring workspace access/controls)
- Demonstrated independent judgement and execution - rearchitecting a manual process to fully automated via code/reporting tooling.
- Ability to independently synthesize an existing data process, extract requirements, synchronize with Data Engineering team for ingestion patterns/requirements, program core workload via SparkSQL, and develop the reporting UI.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for executive audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Language knowledge and experience is a plus (Ex: Python, Powershell)
- Experience with ServiceNow data and cyber operations (ex: CMDB, Vulnerability Management, Service Catalog, Security Incident Response)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Databricks, Azure Data Engineer, Power Platform App Maker Associate).
