Systems Administrator

FedTec is seeking a Systems Administrator who will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and management of computer systems hardware and software, both stand-alone and networked. This role will also assist in the development and improvement of information technology services, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient operations across the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Field all calls for computer assistance from employees and provide timely resolution.
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade hardware and software across computerized systems (workstations, servers, peripherals).
  • Log and track all computer assistance requests in electronic tracking software/ticketing tools.
  • Provide ad hoc end-user training to help staff effectively use computerized systems.
  • Perform routine LAN administration duties as required.
  • Compile, write, and maintain documentation of all computer configurations, including adherence to minimum hardware/software standards.
  • Maintain awareness of advances in information technology and recommend system modifications or enhancements as appropriate.
  • Coordinate selection and purchase of data processing hardware and software for HRT in alignment with standards and budget.
  • Explore and, where appropriate, implement new technologies to automate tasks related to client workstations and/or servers.
  • Implement and manage backup routines for all networked computer systems.
  • Provide development and/or maintenance support for specialized software programs as needed.
  • Implement and manage virus protection strategy, including endpoint and server-based protections.
  • Implement and manage server-based applications used to:
  • Update workstations and servers
  • Control and monitor Internet traffic
  • Support other network and systems management functions
  • Monitor system and application logs to identify problems or unusual behavior and take corrective action.
  • Update and maintain server operating systems, ensuring security patches and upgrades are applied in a timely manner.
  • Manage records created and received in compliance with the Records Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner, following safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Sr. Director of Technology Services.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 or newer).
  • Strong hands-on experience with: Active Directory , DNS , DHCP
  • Server hardware (installation, configuration, and troubleshooting)
  • Experience with Backup Exec or other enterprise backup solutions.
  • Experience working with VMware 6x/7x in a virtualized server environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot:
  • Server operating systems
  • Server and workstation software
  • Related hardware components
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly identify issues and determine effective solutions.
  • Ability to rapidly troubleshoot and resolve problems with minimal downtime in a production environment.
