Job Summary
The Analyst job function was created to undertake policy definition and approval, customer experience definition, strategic positioning, and other similar functions associated with the Retail Energy work streams. As part of this team, the Analyst IV has responsibility for analyzing and developing improvements to business processes, identifying and facilitating the creation of appropriate reporting around each function, managing and integrating processes relating to operations, and delivering an improved customer experience. The Controls & Compliance Analyst IV position resides in the Retail Energy Customer Operations Department and will work with fellow Compliance team members as well as internal business stakeholders throughout Vistra Retail supporting all markets Vistra Retail operates in.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Work closely with managers and business control owners to ensure the scope, design, and performance of Retail operational controls are sufficient to support the company's internal control infrastructure. Perform control assessments and/or audits as part of ongoing Compliance efforts. Assist in reviewing control activities for operational effectiveness. Participate in the annual risk assessment processes to define the in-scope selection of controls for testing. Work with business organizations to understand controls that are in place and/or needed to effectively mitigate identified risks. Perform testing of operational business process and/or technology-related controls and maintain related work papers. Assist in the evaluation of control exceptions and reporting of necessary control deficiencies. Assist in the development of Quarterly Control Compliance Reports. Lead Quarterly Control meetings with Executive leaders. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business units and key stakeholders to ensure a strong and effective control framework is in place. Coordinate with the Internal Audit and SOX PMO teams as needed regarding SOX controls testing and coordination with their engagement. Stay abreast of changes in regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Identify opportunities for improvement in business processes, systems, program administration, and/or testing approaches. Provide training to key control owners related to Operational Compliance activities and the Governance, Risk & Compliance application tool.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
5+ years of related work experience
Advanced Skill in using computer software applications such as MS Office products
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis
Excellent negotiating, collaborating, consensus building and conflict-resolution skills
Excellent Project Management and problem-solving skills
Excellent written documentation and verbal communication skills
Skilled in developing process flows and other process documentation
Ability to extract, summarize, and report on large amounts of data using a variety of reporting tools.
Extensive teamwork skills with both internal and external customers. Able to effectively contribute to and lead small work groups, process teams, and focus groups
Working knowledge of emerging technologies and tools used to effectively aggregate/analyze critical business data such as Power BI, Tableau, and Power Automate is helpful
Comfortable with communicating with all levels of leadership within the organization
High School diploma or equivalent or experience gained through previous work, college degree programs, and/or certifications is required
Experience in SOX, Internal Audit, or other Controls & Compliance fields is beneficial

Testing of controls and their operating effectiveness
Investigation of control failures and analysis of root causes
Documentation and implementation of mitigation activities
Preparation and presentation of control activities to the Executive Committee
