Job Description

The Mobile Device Management (MDM) Engineer monitors and supports highly critical and highly available health system infrastructure that supports enterprise systems and applications. This role collaborates with senior engineering, network/data center operations, project management, and service desk teams to provide operational support of assigned systems within established timelines. The MDM Engineer ensures secure, efficient, and reliable management of mobile devices and applications across the organization, while driving improvements in mobile infrastructure and compliance with security standards. Monitors and supports highly critical and highly available health system infrastructure, which support the systems applications. Collaborates with senior engineering, network/data center operations, project management and service desk staff to provide operational support of assigned systems within established timelines.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and support of mobile devices using MDM solutions (e.g., Intune, Jamf, Workspace ONE).
  • Provide tier-3 support for mobile device incidents and requests.
  • Monitor compliance policies and escalate issues related to security or configuration.
  • Perform routine audits on device inventory, usage, and software updates.
  • Oversee device lifecycle management, including procurement, staging/enrollment, upgrades, and decommissioning of mobile devices.
  • Define, implement, and enforce mobile device security controls such as passcode requirements, encryption, remote wipe, and conditional access to meet corporate security and regulatory standards.
  • Configure and manage mobile application deployment (both internal/enterprise apps and via app stores), ensuring compatibility, version control, and timely updates.
  • Automate standard processes related to device enrollment, policy enforcement, compliance reporting, and device updates using scripts or automation tools.
  • Monitor device health, performance, and usage; analyze logs and incident trends to identify patterns or systemic issues and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with testing and validation of OS/app updates before broad deployment to ensure compatibility and avoid disruptions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Apple Business Manager (ABM), Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME), and Android Zero-Touch Enrollment for streamlined device provisioning and enrollment.
  • Develops and maintains infrastructure within the area of expertise.
  • Develops, recommends, implements, and evaluates approved policies and procedures (and updates) relating to the supported infrastructure.
  • Coordinates and provides technical assistance, and software upgrades for supported infrastructure.
  • Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

HIGHLY PREFERRED

  • Hands-on experience with Android, Apple, Intune, and IoT mobile device management (MDM) using Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM, Jamf Pro, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Advanced experience supporting backend MDM infrastructures, including Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux, Jamf Software Server, Apache Tomcat, MySQL, PowerShell, Omnissa Cloud Connector, Omnissa Tunnel, and Omnissa Unified Access Gateway (UAG).
  • Proficiency with Mobile Application Management (MAM) using Apple Business Manager (ABM) and Google Play.
  • Strong knowledge of developing and managing workflows for operating systems and application configuration settings for both individually assigned and shared mobile devices.
  • Advanced experience with Apple Business Manager (with Azure AD Federation), Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME), and Google Zero Touch enrollment.
  • Ability to evaluate, test, and deploy patches and establish processes to ensure patch-level compliance across devices and backend infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
