Job Summary:

In this role, you will support our U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) clients-specifically the Department of the Navy (DON)-by providing electrical engineering expertise for the planning, evaluation, and execution of energy resilience and energy generation projects across the Navy enterprise. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for technical review and oversight of energy infrastructure designs, distributed energy resource (DER) integrations, electrical distribution upgrades, and microgrid planning that supports operational continuity at Navy installations.

You will serve as a technical subject matter expert working alongside DON stakeholders and third-party developers, contributing to project scoping, feasibility analyses, technical validation of proposals, and performance monitoring of installed systems. A strong understanding of past and current DON energy projects, installations' mission assurance needs, and DoD energy policy is essential. This role is critical in ensuring that electrical infrastructure meets the resilience and reliability requirements necessary for mission-critical operations.

Experience shall include a minimum of eight (8) years' experience providing electrical engineering support for energy projects, preferably within the federal sector. This includes experience with high- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, interconnection of DERs, and utility coordination. Familiarity with NAVFAC engineering standards, UFCs, and military installation energy projects is highly desirable.

The Electrical Engineer will work with the Program Manager on technical deliverables, engineering reviews, and project coordination to ensure successful project execution aligned with DON goals and requirements.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide electrical engineering analysis and support for Navy energy projects focused on resilience, generation, and reliability.
  • Evaluate electrical system performance and support integration of DERs, including (but not limited to) solar PV, battery energy storage, and generator systems.
  • Perform technical review of engineering drawings, interconnection studies, load flow analysis, and protective device coordination studies.
  • Support government stakeholders with engineering assessments and feasibility studies for infrastructure upgrades.
  • Coordinate with third-party developers, utility companies, and base energy managers to ensure compliance with Navy standards and mission assurance priorities.
  • Provide input into project scopes of work, cost estimates, RFP development, and risk assessments.
  • Assist in the review and validation of commissioning plans and system performance metrics.
  • Document findings, develop briefing materials, and support technical presentations to Navy leadership and stakeholders.
  • Travel to Navy installations to support site assessments, design charrettes, and commissioning reviews (approx. 20%).
  • Support compliance with applicable codes, UFCs, IEEE, NEC, and Navy-specific standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

You will be a great fit if you have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in electrical engineering roles, preferably with DoD or DON energy projects.
  • Active PE license is highly preferred.
  • Experience with DoD energy resilience projects, DER integration, and utility coordination.
  • Familiarity with Navy energy programs, base infrastructure, and mission assurance priorities.
  • Experience working with NAVFAC or similar federal engineering commands is a plus.
