Location: Olympia, WA
Salary: $35.00 USD Hourly - $45.00 USD Hourly
Description: Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will enhance existing manufacturing practices, introduce new production equipment, and support the production of prosthetic devices. This role ensures quality, cost-efficiency, and productivity while collaborating with R&D and production teams to transition designs into scalable manufacturing processes. This is a 6-month contract to hire position.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between design engineering and production to ensure accurate implementation of engineering intent.
Lead manufacturing process qualification and validation.
Develop budgets and propose solutions to manufacturing challenges.
Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods in a built-to-order environment.
Maintain and update manufacturing documentation (work instructions, CAD models, technical drawings).
Design and implement systems to monitor process and equipment performance.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to new and existing products.
Collaborate with supply chain to onboard, qualify, and audit vendors/suppliers.
Report KPIs to management and drive production toward business goals.
Define testing requirements and implement statistical control systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required).
Experience: 3-5 years in manufacturing, fabrication, or product development.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Experience with CNC, injection molding, and 3D printing (MJF preferred).
Familiarity with production and technical documentation.
CAD experience preferred (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion360, HomeWorks).
Knowledge of FDA Class I medical device regulations and ISO 13485 preferred.
Experience launching new production lines in a built-to-order environment preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand as needed; occasional walking.
May require lifting up to 25 pounds (e.g., for conference booth setup).
Reaching above shoulder height and below the waist may be necessary.
