Job Summary

The Senior Pega Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing technology solutions to meet business needs. This role involves all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, system analysis, application design, coding, testing, and ongoing maintenance. The developer will document detailed technical specifications, ensure performance and quality standards are met, and incorporate IT controls to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is key to delivering successful business and technology outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Design, develop, and support technology solutions to address business challenges.
• Provide development and support across Case Management, Business Services, JDE, and Master Data Management systems.
• Develop applications in alignment with coding standards and best practices.
• Participate in design sessions for complex requirements, defining data models, and class structures.
• Execute project initiation activities based on PRPC versions, including use of Application Profiler/Accelerator or Stage Configuration tools.
• Conduct performance testing, debugging, and system optimization.
• Ensure all solutions include appropriate IT controls for security and compliance.

Requirements

• Certification: Pega Certified System Architect (CSSA) preferred; Lead System Architect (CLSA) preferred.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience developing and implementing enterprise-grade business solutions using Pega PRPC.
• Hands-on experience with Pega 8.x and Pega Infinity platforms.
• Proven experience supporting production environments and resolving issues efficiently.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for debugging production problems.
• Expertise in integrations (REST, SOAP, File Listener, MQ) and robust error handling.
• Skilled in creating technical rules (Data Pages, Activities, Data Transforms, Flows, Case Types, Decision Rules) while following branching strategies.
• Adhere to Pega and organizational guardrails and best practices.
• Monitor and review alert logs, perform PAL/pre-flight checks to ensure quality and performance.
• Solid understanding of UX/UI design including Portals, Skins, Flow Actions, Sections, and other UI components.
• Hands-on experience implementing and configuring background jobs.
• Experience with Admin Studio and SMA configuration to optimize performance.
• Proficiency in Oracle and SQL database operations.
• Working knowledge of Pega container management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Domain experience in Healthcare or Financial Services.
• Experience with Pega Cloud migration and upgrades (to 24.2).
• Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
• Experience integrating with external Kafka.
• Strong Linux administration background.
• Knowledge of application performance tools such as PAL, PMI, AES, and Windows Performance Monitor.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and related tools.
• Web application experience in WebSphere Liberty App Server (WebSphere/JBOSS/Tomcat preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Pega Constellation (Theme Cosmos) and traditional UI architectures.
• Exposure to DX API.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 5-8+ years of professional experience in IT development, programming, and coding.
• 5-8+ years of experience as a PRPC application developer and solution architect.
• 5-8+ years of experience in architecture, design, and platform configuration.
• Demonstrated experience installing and configuring Pega upgrades (preferably 8.4 to 8.8).
