Job Title: ServiceNow Architect
Role Overview
As a ServiceNow Architect, you will be responsible for designing, leading, and overseeing the implementation of complex ServiceNow solutions across multiple modules and platforms. You will apply deep expertise in ServiceNow architecture and best practices to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that align with business objectives and drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of ServiceNow solutions, including ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, ITAM, HRSD, CMDB, and related modules.
Define architectural standards and solution designs that align with ServiceNow best practices and business requirements.
Ensure adherence to the Common Services Data Model (CSDM) to maintain platform consistency and scalability.
Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams to establish the ServiceNow architectural vision and roadmap.
Act as a trusted advisor, providing recommendations on platform capabilities, process automation, and solution design.
Configuration, Customization & Integration
Oversee configuration and customization of ServiceNow applications while ensuring platform integrity and long-term scalability.
Architect and implement integrations using REST, SOAP, OAuth2, JWT, and MID Server, enabling seamless connectivity with systems such as AWS, Azure, Salesforce, SAP, LDAP, and Active Directory.
Provide hands-on guidance in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide API, Business Rules, Script Includes).
Platform Governance & Optimization
Establish governance frameworks covering update sets, deployments, version control, and security compliance.
Optimize ServiceNow environments for performance, usability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Ensure proper CMDB design, maintenance, and data quality.
Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and implementation teams.
Enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance across ServiceNow deliverables.
Upgrades, Enhancements & Documentation
Lead platform upgrades, patching, and feature enhancements aligned with ServiceNow release cycles.
Produce comprehensive documentation including architecture diagrams, workflows, and implementation guides.
Required Qualifications
Experience
5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow implementation experience, including 3+ years in a lead or architect role.
Proven experience delivering large-scale ServiceNow implementations.
Technical Expertise
Strong expertise in ServiceNow architecture, configuration, and design across ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, HRSD, CMDB.
Deep knowledge of ServiceNow platform capabilities, best practices, and governance models.
Extensive experience with ServiceNow integrations, scripting, and automation.
Advanced understanding of update sets, deployments, version control, and platform governance.
Familiarity with Flow Designer, Virtual Agent, and Predictive Intelligence.
Certifications
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Required
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Technical Architect (CTA) – Preferred
ITIL & Methodologies
Strong practical knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management.
Experience working in Agile environments and managing complex implementations.
Leadership & Communication
Demonstrated leadership experience guiding cross-functional teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ServiceNow ITOM modules (Discovery, Event Management, Orchestration).
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for ServiceNow deployments.
Knowledge of automation frameworks and tools to improve operational efficiency.
Hiring Manager Notes
Location Preference: Candidates based in AZ, CA, or nearby states preferred for time-zone alignment.
Work Model: Remote-first role with occasional, optional, reimbursed travel.
Engagement Model: Contract-to-hire (minimum 6 months), with potential for early conversion based on performance.
