Job Title: Software Engineer – Excel VBA Automation & API Cataloging
Position Location:  3 days onsite in any hub city: Pittsburgh, PA; Strongsville, OH; Dallas, TX; Birmingham, AL; or Phoenix, AZ
Length: W2 Contract to Hire
Rate: $30-43/hr 
Job Description:

We are looking for a Software Engineer with deep expertise in Excel VBA scripting and macro development to support automation efforts within the Middleware group at a banking client. This team is responsible for managing API connections and cataloging—not network infrastructure—so a strong understanding of API ecosystems is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced Excel VBA macros and scripts to:
    • Eliminate duplicate entries
    • Automate data import, merging, and transformation
    • Streamline manual workflows related to API cataloging
  • Collaborate with Middleware engineers to understand data flows and integration points
  • Interface with API management platforms to extract and process metadata
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and well-documented

Required Skills:

  • Expert-level proficiency in Excel VBA and macro scripting
  • Strong understanding of data manipulation and automation within Excel
  • Familiarity with API management platforms such as:
    • Google Apigee
    • IBM API Connect
    • Tetrate Service Mesh
  • Experience working in or with Middleware teams or API integration environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with scripting languages like SQL
  • Understanding of enterprise API governance and lifecycle
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical teams
