Role: GNC- Navigation engineer
Location: El- Sengundo, CA
Duration: Full Time
Responsibilities Include the Following
Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) focusing on Navigation Systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Develop and implement navigation algorithms, assess vehicle controllability and performance, collaborate with the engineering team to integrate navigation solutions and recommend design changes to enhance system performance.
Support ground and flight tests to ensure mission success with reliable high-performing autonomous heavy-lift drones.
Algorithm Development: Design and implement GNC algorithms.
Modeling & Simulation: Develop models and validate performance.
Flight Testing: Integrate and test GNC systems.
Data Analysis: Assess and refine system performance.
Collaboration: Ensure seamless systems integration.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of practical experience; 3+ years of experience GNC system design and development.
Strong foundation Kalman filtering and state estimation (Control theory is a plus).
Proficiency in Python and C++.
Experience with onboard IMU/GPS, RTK-GNSS, and dual GNSS systems, and sensor fusion techniques.
Embedded software development experience, including coding for microcontrollers.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialization in Navigation Systems for UAVs.
Experience with fault-tolerant navigation systems.
Experience with real-time operating systems and flight code development (PX4 familiarity is a plus).
Familiarity with aerodynamics, flight stability, and vehicle control of UAVs.
Sharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
Demonstrated technical and personnel leadership capabilities.
Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry.
