EMC Test Engineer - Consumer Electronics Hardware

Position Details

  • Location: On-site in Mountain View, CA
  • Contract Type: 1-year W-2 contract
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week

About the Role

eWe are seeking an experienced EMC Test Engineer to support a leading consumer electronics team focused on developing smart home devices, wearables, and mobile products. This role is hands-on and emphasizes EMC testing over RF, making it ideal for candidates with a strong experience in physical hardware testing and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct EMC and ESD testing on consumer electronics hardware.
  • Review mechanical designs and PCB layouts for EMC compliance.
  • Develop and execute EMC test plans, oversee validation, and compile technical reports.
  • Troubleshoot EMC failures and recommend design improvements.
  • Operate lab equipment including:
    • EM scanners
    • ESD guns
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Surge testers
    • LISNs, CDNs, VNAs, amplifiers, and receivers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on EMC testing experience
  • Strong understanding of compliance standards and test methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience reviewing PCB schematics and mechanical designs for EMC
  • Familiarity with lab tools and test equipment used in EMC validation

Preferred Skills

  • Experience reworking small electrical components (e.g., 01005)
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools (CST, HFSS, ADS, PowerSI)
  • Scripting experience for test automation and data analysis (e.g., MATLAB)
  • Experience in EMI/ESD design and mitigation
  • Prior experience in consumer electronics, medical devices, or automotive systems

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $85.00/hr.
