Job Description

Virtual and Power Traders


Must have a recent history of trading virtual power in the US short-term markets with a history of a profitable track record with P&L ranging $1 mln - $10 million. Technical Quant and coding skills preferred. Being able to carve out your edge in the marketplace is important. The ideal candidate should be collaborative with trading skills and a proven ability to generate and close new trades.



Responsibilities



  • You are expected to be able to independently run a profitable virtual/power trading book.
  • Assess and report on the effectiveness of our current risk measurement and management procedures.
  • Assist in improving the current risk metrics in capturing risks inherent in nodal and futures/options trading.
  • Improve the performance of the current Point-to-Point Obligation Bid (PTP) and daily spread trading program in terms of both profitability and volume, while complying with the Company s risk metrics.
  • Construct profitable Virtual/FTR/CRR portfolios, both monthly and longer term.
  • Develop the power flow simulator-based analysis programs for trading PTPs, VTs, and FTRs / CRRs.
  • Complement the nodal trading with trading natural gas and electric power futures and other exchange-traded derivatives on commodity exchanges.



Qualifications


Your Skills include a number of the following:


  • Team Player and the ability to work under tight timelines
  • Must have Power Trading history with a profitable P/L history
  • Direct experience in the Power, Nodal, and Virtual trading
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of the ISO transmission systems.
  • Market knowledge producing short-term and long-term price forecasts of natural gas and electricity.
  • Direct experience in power flow simulation models (Power Word and others)
  • ISO and energy/power futures markets experience



Preferred Skills

  • Programming experience in either of Python, VBA, C#, Matlab, Mathematica, SQL, or R,
  • An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Financial Engineering, Finance, Mathematical and Computational Finance, Economics, or other similar quantitative disciplines.
