Job Description

Founded in 2008, OPTiMO is an experienced consulting firm specializing in world-class, enterprise-level application development, system integration and digital design. Our clients span the public and private sectors, and we strive for excellence both in our design work and service to our clients.

Job Summary

We are looking for a creative, motivated, and user-centric UX Designer to join our team and help craft intuitive, engaging, and innovative user experiences. This role will work closely with product managers, developers, designers, and stakeholders to design intuitive, accessible, and engaging user experiences. From user research to high-fidelity prototypes, this role plays a key part in delivering solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and drive business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employ a user-centered design approach in collaboration with Business and Systems Analysts to validate and refine product requirements
  • Design UX and UI deliverables from concept to execution (e.g., personas, journey maps, site maps, flows, wireframes, mockups, clickable prototypes)
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions
  • Present UX/UI designs and rationale to internal teams and stakeholders
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Developers, QA, Product Managers, and Marketing to ensure seamless product delivery
  • Advocate for usability, accessibility, and responsive design best practices
  • Maintain and contribute to design systems and documentation
  • Continuously improve internal design processes and deliverables
  • Create visual assets for digital or print including graphics for PowerPoint decks, marketing campaigns, internal presentations, and branded collateral
Required Qualifications
  • A strong portfolio showcasing both visual design and user-centered UI/UX design work across responsive web and mobile platforms
  • Note: Applicants without a portfolio or relevant work samples will not be considered
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in both visual design and UI/UX design for digital products
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Visual Communications, Human-Computer Interaction, UX/UI Design, or a related field
  • Equivalent experience accepted (Master's degree, or Bachelor's + 2 years, or 5+ years of proven industry experience)
  • Proficiency in Adobe XD is required
  • Experience with Figma or Sketch is a plus, especially as we explore future tooling transitions
  • Demonstrated ability to create user flows, sitemaps, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and polished visual assets within an established design system
  • Strong understanding of usability principles, accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, DHS Trusted Tester), and interaction design best practices
  • Experience producing a range of deliverables, including both UX artifacts and final visual designs for digital and print use
  • Ability to confidently present and defend design solutions to stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Experience working collaboratively in Agile/SCRUM environments alongside developers, QA, product managers, and business analysts
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS), 18F Design Methods, and mobile platform design standards (iOS/Android)
  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments, iterating on design solutions based on user feedback, research insights, and technical constraints
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset - someone who takes initiative, contributes without waiting to be assigned, and takes ownership from concept to delivery-Specific Requirements (if applicable)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and medical assessment
  • Recent employment history in the U.S. or qualifying exceptions for time spent abroad
  • Must be registered with the Selective Service if applicable
