Overview:
The ServiceNow CMDB Architect / Engineer is responsible for driving the overall vision, design, and implementation of the client s enterprise Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. This position plays a strategic role in maintaining data integrity, optimizing automation, and advancing the maturity of ServiceNow-based asset and configuration management across the organization.
The ideal candidate combines deep ServiceNow platform expertise with a strong understanding of data architecture, discovery, and governance principles. They will lead the evolution of CMDB integrations, improve data accuracy and automation, and enhance enterprise visibility into IT assets and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain the architecture, data model, and governance structure for the ServiceNow CMDB.
 - Oversee data ingestion, reconciliation, and certification processes across multiple integrated systems.
 - Implement and optimize the Integration Reconciliation Engine (IRE) to ensure consistency and data quality.
 - Lead Service Mapping and Discovery efforts to accurately represent IT services and dependencies.
 - Collaborate with IT, infrastructure, and enterprise data teams to drive automation and governance improvements.
 - Partner with Service Delivery and Enterprise Asset Management teams to align CMDB strategy with business goals.
 - Identify process automation opportunities to improve data accuracy and eliminate manual reconciliation.
 - Act as technical lead and subject matter expert for ServiceNow CMDB architecture, integrations, and platform design.
 - Ensure adherence to risk management, compliance, and IT governance standards across CMDB operations.
 - Provide documentation, architecture diagrams, and best practices for CMDB operations and service mapping.
 
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in systems analysis, application development, or IT architecture, with at least 3 years focused on ServiceNow CMDB architecture and engineering.
 - Proven expertise with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, IRE, Service Mapping, and Data Certification.
 - Strong understanding of ServiceNow ITOM, ITAM, HAM, SAM, and CSDM frameworks.
 - Hands-on experience integrating multiple data sources into CMDB and managing reconciliation processes.
 - Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and related collaboration and tracking tools.
 - Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
 - Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across distributed teams.
 - Exceptional communication and documentation skills to support both technical and executive audiences.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- ServiceNow certifications in CMDB, Discovery, ITOM, or ITSM.
 - Experience designing CMDB integrations with enterprise tools such as SCCM, SolarWinds, or AWS.
 - Knowledge of automation and orchestration frameworks to enhance CMDB maintenance.
 - Experience supporting enterprise asset management and configuration processes in large-scale environments.
 - Understanding data quality management, normalization, and reconciliation automation.
