The Project Manager (RPA/AI) is responsible for managing the Robotic Process Automation and AI/ML portfolio. The role collaborates with the cross-functional business areas including Clinical, Discovery, Finance, TechOps, and Development to understand business processes, gather requirements, evaluate, prioritize, and implement RPA robots and AI/ML-based solutions. The role liaises with internal IT, onshore and offshore RPA consultants and developers to create RPA bots and AI/ML-based solutions. The position plays a critical role in developing, executing, and governing the RPA and AI strategy.
Accountable for leading all aspects of RPA and AI needs for assigned groups including implementation, ongoing operational support, and relationship management.
- Holds overall accountability for all aspects of RPA/AI project management. Plan, design, develop, maintain, and support RPA and AI/ML implementation projects, upgrades, change management, and ongoing operations.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, system implementation partners, vendors, onshore and offshore resources on the design and development of new RPA bots and AI/ML solutions in support of business needs.
- Establish close relationships with business partners and collaboratively drive RPA and AI implementation strategy. Understand business challenges, collect requirements, and develop RPA or AI/ML solutions.
- Create consensus with other stakeholders as to the timing of solution introductions and withdrawals.
- Review and/or recommend new solutions, changes to existing solutions, and exceptions where robots may not be the optimal solution.
- Responsible for managing developers, business analysts, and support personnel, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity and providing mentoring and facilitating employee professional development.
- Participate in strategic and budgetary planning processes by providing input to the Digital IT budget.
- Ensure the various support teams are collaborating to deliver the right-fit digital solutions to the assigned business area.
- Operate within a culture of compliance and collaboration.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide recommendations on desired policies and goals; implement new/reviewed programs according to established guidelines.
- Ensure the various teams are collaborating across the enterprise, across various groups, and build a high-performance environment.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a science related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of IT experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on clinical development. Project management experience is plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of RPA technology using UiPath or any other RPA suite. Must have sound knowledge of computer system validation (CSV) and Google Cloud Platform processes. Familiarity with generative AI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and OpenAI.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences. Ability to understand customer needs, negotiate complex issues and total value offerings to customers and partners.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific digital trends and challenges.
