Role: Business Systems Analyst (BSA) Location: Remote
Position Overview We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong experience in the healthcare provider space to join our team. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners, ensuring successful delivery of healthcare technology solutions. The role requires expertise in requirements gathering, API integrations, data mapping, and familiarity with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes.
Key Responsibilities Collaborate with healthcare providers, business leaders, and IT teams to gather, analyze, and document requirements for system enhancements and integrations.
Perform data mapping and data analysis across multiple systems, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare standards.
Support the design and implementation of API-based integrations between internal and external systems, including EHR/EMR platforms, payer systems, and third-party applications.
Develop clear and comprehensive business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and process flows.
Partner with developers and QA teams to validate requirements, support testing, and resolve issues throughout the software development lifecycle.
Monitor and troubleshoot EDI transactions (e.g., 837, 835, 270/271, 276/277), working with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate data exchange.
Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and workflow analysis to identify gaps and opportunities for process improvement.
Ensure solutions align with healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and interoperability requirements.
Required Qualifications 3 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role.
Strong background in the healthcare provider domain (knowledge of EHR/EMR systems, clinical workflows, claims, eligibility, etc.).
Hands-on experience with API integrations (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
Proven ability to perform data mapping, data analysis, and SQL queries for validation.
Expertise in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Familiarity with EDI healthcare transactions (HIPAA X12 standards).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare interoperability standards.
Exposure to payer/provider integration projects.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.).
Background in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
