Job Description
Marriott's Cloud Network Services team is a fast-paced and innovative group that builds network infrastructure to connect hotel guests, properties, and partners. Our cloud solutions such as the Marriott Bonvoy reservations and rewards programs. We are a rapidly growing team that provides the opportunity for autonomy and growth! Reporting into the Senior Director, Cloud Network Services, the Senior Network Engineer develops and maintains technical solutions that adhere to engineering and architectural design principles while meeting business requirements. Provides technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security; includes planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, operationalizing, and supporting solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards. This role has a heavy emphasis on Network as Code and Infrastructure as Code.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required:
Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
7+ years of network development engineering experience including:
5+ years of network development experience, DevOps related work using tools such as AAP, Terraform, Harness and Git to deliver network solutions in the public cloud
5+ years of experience in a lead role leading large scale projects delivering resilient cloud-based network solutions to support our ever-increasing customer demand in the field.
This includes both cloud native and vendor specific solutions.
o Cloud Native networking solutions such as VPC, NLB/ALB, Internet Gateways, Transit Gateways, Route 53 etc.
o Infrastructure as Code development AAP(Ansible) and Terraform with Harness and/or GitActions.
o Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and secure network architectures in cloud environments across multiple cloud service providers.
o Configure and manage cloud networking components, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, VPNs, and Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.
o Implement and manage multi-cloud and hybrid connectivity solutions to ensure seamless integration and communication across different cloud platforms and on-premises data centers
o Technical writing and delivering written document pertaining to network solutions and diagrams
Preferred:
Graduate degree in Computer Science or related
Certification such as CCIE, CCNP, PCNSE, CCSA, CCSE or AWS Certified Advanced Networking
Monitor and optimize network performance, including latency, throughput, and reliability.
Conduct regular network performance tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues
Implement network security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant security standards and policies.
Solid understanding of Agile SAFe
Experience in public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud or Google Cloud)
Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change through collaboration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Technology Management
Manage Cloud Networks products and solutions, including the design, engineering, and delivery of new solutions for Marriott applications across the cloud provider networks
Work closely with cloud architects, developers, and security teams to design and implement network solutions that meet business requirements.
Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and clients regarding network configurations and best practices.
Approve and oversee projects to implement and maintain services while meeting deadlines
Manage vendors to meet obligations for engineering design, network implementation, and technical support service delivery and service restoration
Continuously improve operations processes, develop, and present best practices, technical concepts and technologies for innovative Cloud Networks solutions
Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance network performance and security.
Document network configurations, procedures, and changes to maintain accurate and up to-date records Technical Leadership
Contribute input to help manage project schedules, risks, and costs
Train and/or mentor other team members and peers, as appropriate
Establish cross-team relationships across Marriott to help define services and meet service level requirements
Serve as an escalation point to resolve service delivery and operational issues Identify opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes
Participate in capacity planning and scaling of network infrastructure to meet growing demands. IT Governance
Act as primary point of contact for Network Compliance which includes segmentation, patching strategy and IAM
Follow all defined standards and processes (e.g. SAFe, IT Governance, and Enterprise Architecture)
Provide input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
Maintain a proper balance between business and operational risk
Follow the defined project management and/or standards and processes
The pay range for this position is $47.35 to $80.96 per hour.
