Job Title: Software Engineer (Technical lab operations and Android feature development)

Location: New York City, NY (Onsite)

Duration/Term: Long-Term Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to support both technical lab operations and Android feature development for next-generation wearable devices. This hybrid role requires hands-on experience with AOSP, Java, and C++, along with strong project management and communication skills. The ideal candidate will split their time between lab support (debugging, triaging, testing) and Android development for wearable technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct play testing of wearable features, identify and document issues, perform first-level triaging, and implement fixes.
  • Develop Android-based features to support lab operations and wearable device functionality using Java, C++, and AOSP.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues and unblock lab workflows.
  • Review and approve modifications to existing databases and management systems.
  • Guide staff in writing and coding database descriptions and identifiers.
  • Oversee database development and approve project scope and limitations.
  • Estimate time and cost for database-related project requests.
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or modification.
  • Supervise installation and testing of new products and system improvements.
  • Develop standards and guidelines for software usage and data protection.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • At least 3+ years of Android development experience.
  • Minimum 1+ year of project management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong troubleshooting and system change implementation skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Visual Basic, and other development tools.
  • Mentoring capabilities and performance feedback experience.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems.
