Overview:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration and engineering of IT environments, including the installation, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of systems, software, and hardware. This role provides hands-on support for enterprise systems and ensures consistent execution of standards aligned with organizational objectives.
General Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support new technologies, software, hardware, system management tools, and security software to increase productivity and drive efficiencies.
  • Monitor, maintain, update/upgrade all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Partner with team members to assess, prioritize, allocate, and focus resources for operational support, service requests, and project initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IT Support to maintain and troubleshoot operating systems, software, and system management tools.
  • Identify software/hardware opportunities and implement solutions that streamline operations and enhance productivity.
  • Assist with the development and deployment of customized software and hardware requirements; maintain inventory.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to resolve critical IT issues outside of standard business hours.
  • Develop and implement automated processes/workflows.
  • Design and develop systems and infrastructure ensuring a secure environment and business continuity.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Required:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT engineering or server systems administration.
  • Proven support experience with Windows Server and Linux-based systems.
  • Experience in a Hyper-V environment.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory administration, including DNS, DHCP, and related technologies.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell or similar languages).
  • Ability to rack, cable, and support IT systems hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Azure tenant and Office 365 administration, including Exchange Online.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and general networking concepts.
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Experience with web servers (IIS).
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk).
  • Familiarity with backup solutions such as Veeam, Altaro, or Azure Backup.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender Suite.
Certifications (Preferred):
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Microsoft AZ-900 or other relevant certifications
