What you'll do...

Lead the design and release of future high voltage battery bus bar modules (BBM), which consists of cell to cell connections, cell voltage and temperature sensing. Deliver quality, cost, weight and functional requirements while meeting program milestones.

The engineer will work closely with Ford engineers responsible for HV battery structures, cell arrays, and other components which interact with the bus bar module to ensure all requirements and specifications are met when packaging the high voltage battery system.

Design and release of high voltage BBM for future model electric and/or hybrid electric Programs including:

Lead sizing studies of wiring, FPC traces and bus bar plates for series and parallel connections.

Design of retention features like brackets, clips, frames, etc.

Joining technologies such as crimps, connectors, methods of soldering, heat staking.

Creepage and clearance requirements.

Basic elements of injected molded plastics technologies.

Conformal coatings.

Dimensional tolerancing and locating methods.

Support launch of unit HV battery programs at local facilities.

Support internal HV Battery and array packaging studies; Manage Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers; Interpret and apply industry and Ford component/packaging requirements and specifications.

Responsible for leading component program module team (CPMT) team comprised of suppliers, Purchasing/STA, Manufacturing, attribute teams, interfacing CPMT's, and Vehicle team.

Manage quality foundation documents including DFMEA, SDS, DVP&R.

Achieve PPAP with zero deviations.

You'll have...

BS in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical or other applied science degree

3+ years engineering experience

Experience with high voltage component design and release responsibilities.

Knowledge of high voltage automotive systems and electric and/or hybrid electric vehicle systems preferred, but not required.

Even better, you may have...

M.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or applied science degree.

Practical knowledge including design, sizing, and packaging.

Experience in multiple battery cell technologies (prismatic, cylindrical, etc).

Prior Design and Release experience preferred.

Ability to coordinate CAD support.

Ability to work effectively with various functions of a vehicle program.

Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail.

Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills.

Strong leadership skills, able to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
