Job Details

Job Title: AWS (Amazon Web Services) subject matter expert (SME)
Location: Remote/Eagan, MN
Duration: 6 Months Contract

Note: 13 20 years of relevant experience.

Description:
Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and evaluate business systems, develop requirements, and identify AWS-centric solutions for performance and cost-effectiveness.
Knowledge of industry developments, business systems practices, Agile lifecycle, CI/CD, and AWS technologies.
Experience designing, developing, and deploying large-scale AWS business software or infrastructure.
Integration experience with AWS cloud and other SaaS/on-premise technologies (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Linux, SAP, etc.).
Compliance and risk management experience in regulated environments (SOX, PCI).
Automation experience using scripting/coding tools (Python, Shell, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet).
Enterprise-wide architecture knowledge: cloud services, servers, storage, virtualization, HA, performance analysis, and monitoring.
Leadership of high-visibility or mission-critical projects and oversight of technical teams.

Should also have experience in:
Generative AI and prompt engineering.
Design patterns for scalable applications.
Documenting code, models, and solutions.
Communicating complex concepts to technical and executive stakeholders.
Containerization, Kafka deployment strategies, SQL/NoSQL databases.
Creating technical diagrams (Visio, Draw.io), architecture docs (Word), presentations (PowerPoint), and data visualizations (Excel, Power BI).

Tasks may include:
Advising IT on cloud-based microservices/SOA solutions.
Creating architecture deliverables, BOMs, cost estimates, and design parameters.
Preparing solution descriptions, risks, and mitigation plans.
Leading cloud adoption and creating cloud policies, standards, and reference architectures.
Identifying training needs and delivering awareness sessions.
Interfacing with vendors to ensure architecture standards.
Providing technical direction and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
Researching industry trends and recommending best practices.
Applying architecture governance and managing standards releases.
Acting as SWAT team member for problem resolution.

Certifications: Expert knowledge of AWS cloud services with active AWS Cloud Associate or Professional certification.

Education: 13 20 years of relevant experience. Bachelor s degree preferred; additional years of experience may substitute.
