You will lead and inspire multiple engineering teams, championing modern development practices, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure solutions on our Google Cloud Platform platform. This is a high-impact role requiring a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in Java and modern web technologies, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the overall engineering strategy for the modernization of our existing systems and the development of our new POS platform.

  • Technology Vision: Drive the adoption of modern technologies, architectural patterns, and best practices across the engineering organization, with a focus on Java (backend), Vue.JS (frontend), and Google Cloud Platform.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Modernization Roadmap: Develop and execute a phased roadmap for modernizing legacy systems and migrating critical workloads to Google Cloud Platform.

  • POS Platform Development: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of our new POS platform, ensuring it meets the needs of our customers and aligns with our business objectives.

  • Process Transformation: Champion the adoption of agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and automation to improve development velocity, quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Cloud Strategy: Lead the strategic utilization of Google Cloud Platform services to build scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Technical Excellence: Ensure the technical quality, security, and performance of all engineering deliverables.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with product management, business stakeholders, and executive leadership to align technical strategy with business goals and manage expectations.

  • Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external technology vendors and partners as needed.

  • Budget Management: Oversee the engineering budget for modernization and POS development initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with significant experience in leading and managing multiple engineering teams.

  • Deep expertise in Java backend development and modern web frontend technologies, preferably Vue.JS.

  • Proven experience architecting, building, and deploying scalable and resilient applications on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

  • Strong understanding of modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps principles.

  • Demonstrated success in leading significant modernization efforts and driving technological change within an organization.

  • Experience in the Point-of-Sale (POS) industry or payment processing is highly desirable.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a strategic mindset.

  • Experience managing engineering budgets and resources effectively.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with security best practices in cloud environments.

  • Knowledge of data engineering principles and tools.

  • Experience with other frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

  • Opportunity to lead a transformative initiative within a growing fintech company.

  • Significant impact on the company's future direction and success.

  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment in Seattle, WA.
