IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.
Our client is looking for a SQL Database Administrator to manage and maintain SQL Server database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The role will also handle tasks like installation, configuration, monitoring, backup, and recovery, while also addressing performance tuning, security, and user access. The SQL Database Administrator will act as a gatekeeper for the organization's data, ensuring its integrity, accessibility, and security within the SQL Server environment.
Tasks
- Database Management:Installing, configuring, and upgrading SQL Server database systems.
- Performance Optimization:Tuning database performance, optimizing queries, and managing indexes.
- Security:Managing user access, permissions, and implementing security policies.
- Backup and Recovery:Implementing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies for data protection.
- Monitoring: Monitoring database health, performance, and availability.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation for database configurations and procedures.
- Collaboration: Working with developers and other IT professionals to support database needs.
- Database Design and Implementation: Assisting in the design and implementation of new databases, including schema design, and creating database objects like tables, views, and stored procedures.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implementing solutions like Always On Availability Groups or clustering for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Capacity Planning: Monitoring database growth trends and planning for future capacity needs.
- Automation: Developing and maintaining scripts for automating routine database tasks.
- Patch Management: Applying SQL Server patches and updates to keep the system secure and up-to-date.
- Security Auditing and Compliance: Ensuring the database environment adheres to security policies and regulations.
- Reporting: Generating reports and visualizations related to database performance and usage.
NOTE: Local candidates within a 90-minute drive of Lansing, MI ONLY. Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start and there is NO REMOTE ONLY option. On-site interview required.
Location: Dimondale, MI (Hybrid role 2 days/week in office)
Contract: 1 year
Skills Required:
- 4+ years - Experience in Database administration specifically on SQL Server 16 and upwards
- Experience / expertise in High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions
- Experience with Transparent Data Encryption within SQL Server
- 2+ years - Experience creating, updating and maintaining systems documentation
- Bachelor s Degree (Please include on Resume)
