Description

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to lead a database migration project from Oracle to PostgreSQL in an AWS Cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, experience with AWS Cloud services, and a proven track record of successfully managing and executing database migration projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to managing complex database environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, design, and implementation of database migration projects from Oracle to PostgreSQL on AWS Cloud.
  • Perform detailed assessments of existing Oracle databases, identifying potential migration challenges and developing comprehensive migration strategies.
  • Design and implement archival strategies to eliminate database partitioning.
  • Execute database migration tasks including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes utilizing AWS Services, as needed.
  • Maintain, optimize and tune PostgreSQL databases for performance, scalability, and reliability post-migration.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain automated processes for database management, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, migration procedures, and maintenance processes.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues related to database performance, capacity, and security.
  • Conduct and support regular maintenance tasks, including updates, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure adherence to client guideline, standards, and AWS Cloud best practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Proven experience with database migration projects from Oracle to PostgreSQL, particularly on AWS Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture, including RDS, EC2, S3, and CloudFormation, and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database scripting languages.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery processes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Certifications in AWS and/or PostgreSQL are highly desirable.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance based on USPTO regulations
  • Candidates must have lived in the United States for the last 2 years

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
