Medical Laboratory Technician

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Education:
• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an in-service training program in a Medical Laboratory Assistant Program accredited by the American Medical Association; OR
• Two years of experience in a medical laboratory under the direct supervision of a medical laboratory technician, medical technologist, or physician.
• Certifications/Licensure:
• National certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• West Virginia Clinical Laboratory Technician Licensure and Certification.
• Experience:
• Minimum of one year of in-service training in a recognized medical laboratory assistant program OR two years of experience in a medical laboratory environment.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting physicians' or supervisors' orders for specific testing requirements.
