CAD Technician

• The CAD Technician is responsible to draft drawings to support a large research facility with a complex equipment infrastructure.


• The support could include electrical, mechanical, site, and architectural drawings to support project execution and equipment installations.


• The CAD Technician will also take internal customer requirements and translate those into drawings to be used for developing work scopes and quotations.
  The qualified candidate must communicate and collaborate well within a diverse working environment which includes scientists, lab personnel, contractors, managers, and internal skilled craftsman personnel.


• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a group as necessary is essential for success in this position.

Key Reponsibilities:

• Provide CAD drafting and design support for Project Managers and Engineers during the planning, design and construction of facility projects.
  


• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to translate mark-ups into drawings, check and plot drawings, correctly label final working drawings, and


• update contract drawings and specifications.
  


• Perform CAD services in accordance with company standards.
  


• Assist in field activities to gather project information.
  


• Review all work for completeness and accuracy.
  


• Coordinate work with Project Managers, Engineers and Surveyors.
  Interacts with building occupants, researchers, maintenance, operations, and technicians to scope architectural needs and source


• quotations for small projects and engineering work orders.
  


• Manage online drawing directory and physical drawing files.
  


• Work with project managers and engineers to incorporate as built documentation into the facility drawings.
  


• Gain in depth understanding of current building systems and infrastructures to properly propose required layouts for capital improvements and new equipment installations.
  


• Provide technical support for implementing internal specifications.
  


• Provide working knowledge of building and engineering codes as applicable.
  


• Other duties as become necessary to support company goals and/or projects.

Required Qualifications:

• 1+ years of relevant engineering design experience in an R&D or industrial facility.
  


• Proficient in engineering/facility CAD drafting and the latest software including AutoCAD.
  


• Experience with design of civil/site and infrastructure projects.
  


• Engineering or Surveying CAD experience is preferred.
  


• High level of accuracy/thoroughness, attention to detail and speed.
  


• Excellent communication skills, organizational and work coordination skills, and interpersonal skills are critical to role success.

Technical Skills:

• Must have the ability to interpret technical vendor literature (i.e. Installation, Maintenance and Operation manuals) and transfer this information independently and effectively to critical work processes.


• Proficiency with CAD, AutoCad preferred.
  


• A working knowledge of piping and instrument drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment drawings, and similar.
  


• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems: i.e. Maximo/eMaint.
