Job Title: Imaging Architect
Location: Chicago, IL
What is in it for you?
The Imaging Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level medical imaging solutions. This includes architecture for PACS/VNA systems, integration with EMR/EHR platforms, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. The role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and collaboration across clinical, IT, and vendor teams.
Responsibilities: -
Architecture & Design:
- Develop scalable, secure, and interoperable imaging architectures.
- Design blueprints for Radiology and Cardiology PACS, VNA, and diagnostic systems.
- Integrate imaging systems with EMR/EHR and other clinical platforms.
- Implementation & Integration:
Lead PACS/VNA migration projects.
- Define infrastructure, storage, and network specifications for optimal image performance.
- Ensure compliance with DICOM, HL7, IHE profiles, HIPAA, and GDPR.
Strategy & Leadership:
- Create and execute diagnostic imaging strategy aligned with business goals.
- Evaluate emerging imaging technologies and recommend adoption.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across teams.
Documentation & Standards:
- Maintain architecture diagrams, data flow models, and configuration documentation.
- Develop and enforce imaging standards and best practices.
Collaboration:
- Work with internal IT, clinical stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Align technical solutions with clinical workflows and business processes .

Educational Qualifications: -
- Engineering Degree BE/ME/BTech/MTech/BSc/MSc.
- Technical certification in multiple technologies is desirable.
Skills: -
Mandatory skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Imaging Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare IT architecture, with 5+ years in imaging systems (PACS/VNA).
- Deep knowledge of DICOM, HL7, IHE, and imaging standards.
- Experience in multi-vendor, multi-site healthcare environments.
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification preferred.
Good to have skills: -
- Cloud computing experience (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with agile methodologies and project management.
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
