Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to lead the design and user experience strategy for enterprise-level applications and websites. This role will focus on delivering intuitive, accessible, and impactful solutions that support education technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in UX/UI design, user research, and prototyping, along with strong collaboration skills to work closely with cross-functional teams.
Working under minimal supervision, this position requires initiative, independent judgment, and a strong user-centric mindset to ensure products meet the needs of diverse audiences including educators, administrators, parents, and students.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee UX/UI design efforts to ensure alignment with agency-wide design standards and industry best practices.
Translate research findings into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
Collaborate on defining future product roadmaps.
Conduct user testing and outreach to validate that products meet end-user needs.
Partner with product teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership to propose design solutions and articulate rationale.
Collaborate with internal and external teams of designers, developers, and product managers.
Ensure all designs comply with federal accessibility guidelines and usability best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years experience in software product development, digital design, UX/UI, or related field.
8+ years experience designing mockups/wireframes following UX best practices.
8+ years conducting user and usability research.
5+ years strong writing and organizational skills.
5+ years strong communication and facilitation skills.
4+ years leading large-scale UX/UI initiatives.
4+ years experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma or comparable design tools.
3+ years experience ensuring compliance with federal accessibility guidelines.
Portfolio showcasing user research, visual design, and usability studies.
Preferred Skills & Experience
3+ years experience using Atlassian Jira for issue tracking.
2+ years experience working with state or local education agencies.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
