Overview
We are seeking an experienced Drupal 10 Specialist with strong implementation and remediation experience aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA, and Section 508 guidelines. This role is responsible for ensuring our Drupal applications, themes, custom modules, and content adhere to accessibility standards through proactive development and remediation.
The ideal candidate has a mix of Drupal engineering expertise, front-end accessibility skills, and the ability to execute hands-on accessibility audits, testing, and fixes.

Key Responsibilities
Drupal Development & Engineering
Design, build, and maintain Drupal 10 sites using best practices.
Create custom modules, themes, and plugins using PHP 8, Twig, and Symfony.
Work with configuration management, Composer, Drush, and Git workflows.
Develop accessible, responsive, and semantic front-end components using HTML5/CSS/JS.
Implement accessible UI components (menus, forms, media, modals, accordions, etc.).

Accessibility Compliance & Remediation
Perform accessibility audits aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA Title II/III, and Section 508.
Conduct manual testing (keyboard, screen reader) and automated testing using Axe, WAVE, or similar tools.
Remediate accessibility issues in templates, components, and custom modules.
Ensure correct ARIA usage, focus management, skip links, heading structure, color contrast, and form accessibility.
Review content creation practices and guide editors on accessibility compliance.

Collaboration & QA
Partner with UX/UI teams to ensure accessible design patterns.
Collaborate closely with QA to validate compliance before release.
Participate in accessibility reviews, documentation, and VPAT contribution.
Provide guidance and best practices to developers and content authors.

Required Skills
Drupal Technical Skills
4+ years of experience in Drupal (preferably Drupal 9/10).
Strong experience in Twig theming, custom module development, and Drupal Plugin API.
Proficiency in PHP 8, Symfony components, and Composer.
Expertise with CSS/SASS, semantic HTML, and modern JavaScript.
Experience with Drupal accessibility modules (Editoria11y, Accessible Forms, etc.).

Accessibility Skills
Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
Experience with manual accessibility testing using NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack.
Familiarity with automated tools such as Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, Siteimprove, Pa11y, or Tenon.
Hands-on experience remediating accessibility issues in code, design, and content.
Understanding of ARIA roles, semantic markup, and accessible interaction patterns.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with accessibility audits and remediation in enterprise or government environments.
Experience integrating accessibility testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of VPAT creation or reviews.
Experience with Pattern Lab or Storybook.
Acquia certification (Drupal 10 Developer or Site Builder).

Education
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
Or equivalent professional experience.
