A leading global manufacturer of high-performance consumer and industrial equipment is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to help drive the development of innovative technology products. With operations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, the company continues to expand its presence in both residential and commercial markets.
This position is based at the company's engineering and manufacturing facility in Rhode Island and reports to the Embedded Systems Software Engineering Manager. The role is hands-on and highly cross-functional, focused on shaping engineering standards, leading development efforts, and delivering robust embedded software systems from concept to high-volume production.

This position is based at the company's engineering and manufacturing facility in Rhode Island and reports to the Embedded Systems Software Engineering Manager. The role is hands-on and highly cross-functional, focused on shaping engineering standards, leading development efforts, and delivering robust embedded software systems from concept to high-volume production.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to embedded software engineers at the Rhode Island facility.
- Act as the lead developer for assigned firmware/software subsystems and guide overall development efforts.
- Lead embedded platform architecture and implementation for next-generation product lines across multiple business units.
- Perform hands-on design, coding, and integration of complex embedded systems, ensuring they meet regulatory, functional, and performance requirements.
- Coordinate project schedules, status reports, and issue resolution efforts throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, third-party vendors, and partners to support timely and high-quality product delivery.
- Interface with reliability engineering, product testing, and compliance teams to ensure product meets design, manufacturing, and safety specifications.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of embedded software development experience in a product-focused environment.
- 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional product development initiatives.
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards, EMC requirements, and environmental compliance.
- Background in the design and development of medium to high-volume consumer or industrial products is preferred.
- Experience working with manufacturing and production teams to support new product introduction.
- Proficiency with engineering development processes, configuration management, and change control practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to various audiences.
- Collaborative team player capable of working across diverse technical domains.
