JOB DESCRIPTION:
- We are seeking a Senior Business Systems & Automation Engineer to take ownership of our business applications and automation platforms.
- This role requires a problem-solver and systems investigator who can reverse-engineer workflows and integrations where documentation is limited or unavailable.
- The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting integration issues, maintaining critical automations, and ensuring business processes run smoothly across multiple platforms.
- The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills in automation, APIs, and workflow platforms with an analytical mindset able to dig into complex systems, uncover how they work, and rebuild them for stability and scalability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workflow Discovery & Reverse Engineering:
- Investigate undocumented workflows, integrations, and automations.
- Reverse-engineer logic across systems such as Monday.com, JotForm, Cognito Form, Keragon, Plumsail, Zapier, SharePoint, and Power Automate.
- Create accurate documentation and process maps where none currently exist.
System Management & Maintenance:
- Maintain, configure, and optimize business applications and automation tools.
- Update and enhance existing forms, including adding fields, adjusting logic, and ensuring reliable data capture.
- Monitor system health, proactively identify integration failures, and resolve issues quickly.
Automation & Integration:
- Design, build, and maintain workflows that connect form solutions with downstream systems.
- Develop and support API-based integrations, ensuring reliability and error handling.
- Optimize automations to improve scalability, efficiency, and resiliency.
Problem Solving & Support:
- Act as the SME for automation and form-based intake systems.
- Serve as the first responder when integrations break or workflows fail.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to uncover root causes and deliver permanent fixes.
Process Improvement:
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business processes and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement workflow improvements.
- Establish governance and best practices for future automation projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years in business systems, automation engineering, or systems integration.
- Proven expertise with Zapier, Power Automate, and API integrations.
- Strong experience with form-building solutions (JotForm, Cognito Form, Keragon, Plumsail).
- Hands-on SharePoint administration and workflow integration experience.
- Demonstrated ability to reverse-engineer undocumented systems and create documentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with an analytical mindset for uncovering hidden logic and dependencies.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical findings to both IT and non-technical stakeholders.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience working in complex, multi-system environments (healthcare or multi-location a plus).
- Scripting ability (PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript) to extend automation capabilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 ecosystem integrations (Teams, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience documenting and mapping workflows using tools like Lucidchart, Visio, or Miro.
