DB2 DBA with PostgreSQL

 

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in managing and optimizing database systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with DB2, PostgreSQL, and AWS tools, as well as strong data analysis skills and database migration expertise. This role will involve ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our database systems while supporting key business initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Database Management:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize databases, including DB2 and PostgreSQL.
  • Leverage AWS tools to manage cloud-based database environments.
  • Monitor database performance and implement necessary optimizations to ensure high availability and efficiency.

 

Data Analysis:

  • Perform data analysis to support business requirements and decision-making.
  • Analyze data trends and patterns to provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems.

 

Database Migration:

  • Plan and execute database migration projects, including migration to cloud platforms.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure successful migrations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and mitigate risks during migrations.

 

Database Security and Maintenance:

  • Implement security measures to protect data and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Perform regular backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Apply patches and upgrades to maintain database systems.

 

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support application development and deployment.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and best practices.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with expertise in DB2, PostgreSQL, and AWS tools.
  • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret and present data insights.
  • Hands-on experience with database migration projects, including planning, execution, and validation.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions and tools (e.g., AWS RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation tools for database management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with additional database platforms and tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration tools.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or equivalent.
