Location: 100% Remote (EST Hours)

Duration: Long Term Contract

Please note: This role will have 24x7 on-call rotation and the SQL Server DBA will need to support on-call weekends.

Job Details

Client is looking for a Senior Database Administrator, who will support administration teams on both SQL Server Production and Development Environments including the troubleshooting and optimization of SQL queries and Stored Procedures. SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the development and maintenance of RDBMS platforms and database objects and with data access control supporting OLTP or analytic software applications on at least one major RDBMS platform. This role will have 24x7 on-call rotation and the SQL Server DBA will need to support on-call weekends.

Day to Day

  • Assumes sole ownership of SQL Server Database Administration activities including creating databases and data objects and managing database access.
  • Assists in evaluating DBA monitoring and productivity tools.
  • Performs complex relational database management tasks for both development and production applications.
  • Assists in database tuning when applicable.
  • Identifies, documents, and tracks all database related performance problems assisting in their resolution.
  • Performs tasks to develop database and data object creation scripts and to automate data management alerts.
  • Collects data for Database monitoring metrics and reporting.
  • Assists in developing, gathering data for and reporting of metrics.
  • Develops database management skills and assists with the development of junior DBA's.
  • Works on projects of moderate to high complexity within one or more development environments.
  • Works on multiple systems and RDBMS platforms as a project team member.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study desired along with 10+ years' experience in the Administration of SQL Server Databases specializing in both Production & Development environments (extensive experience can replace degree requirement).
  • 10+ years, post graduate experience as a SQL Server DBA in a shared services environment (i.e. environment where different teams manage various activities, including server management, database administration, network operations, storage, etc.)
  • 10+ years of DBA experience in supporting application development teams in addition to production/operations including strong experience in installations & optimization.
  • 8+ years' experience with writing/authoring and optimizing SQL Queries and Stored Procedures.
  • 8+ years of experience with SQL Tuning and Performance Tuning.
  • 5+ years' experience with SSIS for Extract, Transfer, Load (ETL) solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience with Always On Availability Groups (AOAG).
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Experience with databases exceeding 30+ Terabytes.
  • Experience with Backup/Restore technology such as Commvault or similar.
  • Hands-on experience in database administration and T-SQL usage.
  • Experience in large databases, supporting OLTP applications, and Replication technologies.
  • Database security and auditing.
  • Database architecture, including hardware configuration, logical and physical database layouts.
  • Database management, monitoring of multiple databases.
  • Database performance management and tuning.
  • Database fault analysis and resolution.
  • Database backup and disaster recovery procedures.
