Description
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to lead the implementation of a cloud-based Data Lake solution for a construction and contracting client. This long-term contract position involves both strategic advisory responsibilities and hands-on development, ensuring the successful design, execution, and optimization of data pipelines and transformations. The role is based in Sacramento, California, and provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders and apply best practices in data governance and architecture.
Responsibilities:
Design and define the architecture for a cloud-based Data Lake, ensuring scalability and performance.
Lead project planning efforts, including timelines and communication with stakeholders.
Configure the Data Lake environment and establish the necessary infrastructure.
Develop robust data ingestion pipelines and implement transformation logic to meet business needs.
Ensure adherence to data governance standards and industry best practices.
Collaborate closely with business and technical teams to align project requirements and priorities.
Provide detailed documentation and knowledge transfer to support long-term maintenance.
Act as a strategic advisor on data architecture and implementation strategies.
Identify and resolve technical challenges during the development and deployment phases.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing Data Lake solutions using platforms such as Azure Data Lake or Databricks.
Expertise in developing data pipelines and transformations using tools like Spark and Python.
Strong track record of leading projects and effectively engaging with stakeholders.
Ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution.
Knowledge of data architecture, governance, and best practices.
Familiarity with cloud-based environments and related technologies.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges.
