Job Title: DB2 Database Engineer (DBA)
We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Engineer (DBA)to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, and support of DB2 databases on Windows and Linux platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure database integrity, availability, and security, and to optimize database performance in a mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of DB2 database administration, query optimization, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 7+years hands on experience in Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database systems on Linux, and Windows platforms.
- Monitor and manage database performance, capacity, and health to ensure optimal functionality and availability.
- Perform regular backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to safeguard critical data.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption, to protect sensitive information.
- Monitor database access and audit logs to detect and address potential security breaches.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize SQL queries, and tuning database configurations to enhance system performance.
- Analyze database performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related problems, ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions.
- Collaborate with application developers and other IT teams to investigate and resolve database-related issues.
- Collaborate with application developers to design and implement efficient database structures and schemas.
- Participate in database schema changes and version upgrades, ensuring compatibility and data migration.
- Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Prepare regular reports on database performance, growth, and capacity planning.
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in case of failures.
- Enforce security policies and standards to comply with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Proficiency in DB2 query optimization and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery methods, disaster recovery planning, and high availability solutions.
- Experience with DB2 security, including user management, roles, and permissions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools for DB2.
What you will need to have:
- 5+ years of experience with various databases
- 2+ years of experience architecting and maintaining complex relational databases for web applications using Open Source databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL
- 2+ years of experience setting up and managing Cassandra, MongoDB, and CosmosDB
- 2+ years of experience automating NoSQL day-to-day operational activities, such as security, index maintenance, backups, disaster recovery, and installation
- 2+ years of experience with Python, PowerShell, RedHat Linux, Mac OS, IIS, and Active Directory
- 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as Google Cloud and Azure
- 2+ years of experience with Windows OS, Unix, and Linux operating systems
Key Responsibilities:
- DB2 Database Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain DB2 databases across various platforms (e.g., Linux, UNIX, Windows, and mainframes).
- Perform database backup and recovery, ensuring data protection and availability.
- Monitor and manage database performance to ensure efficient operation, including database tuning and optimization.
- Database Security and Access Control:
- Implement and enforce database security measures, including user access control, encryption, and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Perform audits and monitor activities to ensure the security and integrity of the database environment.
- Database Performance Tuning:
- Analyze and optimize DB2 queries and database structures to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related performance issues, including slow-running queries, locking issues, and resource contention.
- Database Maintenance:
- Apply DB2 patches, fixes, and upgrades to ensure system stability and performance.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as index rebuilding, data migration, and schema changes.
- Ensure proper database partitioning and manage large data sets efficiently.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve complex database issues, such as performance degradation, system failures, and data corruption.
- Provide on-call support for database-related incidents and coordinate with development and infrastructure teams for resolutions.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to design and implement database solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery:
- Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for DB2 databases.
- Perform regular disaster recovery tests and ensure data can be restored in a timely and efficient manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DB2 certification (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator for DB2).
- Experience with cloud-based DB2 environments (e.g., DB2 on AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with other databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and integration with DB2.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Perl) for automation.
