Job Details

Position: Credit Bureau SME
Location: Chicago, IL ( or willing to relocate to Chicago)
Years of experience: 16-20 years

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in the credit bureau domain, supporting credit, marketing, fraud, and communication lines of business with strategic data capabilities.
  • MUST HAVE: Good understanding of the regulatory compliance and governance for all bureau-related data usage (Regionwide compliance E.g. AML, GDPR, FCRA, etc.).
  • Proven Experience of suggesting new product lines or solutions which will have direct impacts on Credit Bureau s Revenue
  • Advise internal stakeholders on best practices for bureau data usage to achieve business KPIs.
  • Serve as the domain authority on credit bureau processes, including data submission standards, dispute resolution, and bureau file accuracy.
  • Advise internal teams on bureau-related policies, practices, and industry trends
  • He/She should be able to Identify pain areas of legacy systems and suggest compliant solutions
  • Act as the go-to expert for business teams including product, operations, credit risk, legal, and compliance.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with credit bureaus, industry forums, and regulators on credit reporting matters.
  • Continuous learner who tracks industry updates, bureau changes, and evolving credit norms.
  • Lead the integration and optimization of bureau data across different lines of business for purposes including:
    • Credit Line of Business: Credit limit management, scorecard development, and risk segmentation.
    • Marketing Line of Business: Audience segmentation, propensity modelling, and personalization using bureau attributes.
    • Fraud Line of Business: Bureau-driven identity validation, risk flags, and fraud scoring integration.
    • Communication Line of Business: Use bureau insights to improve outreach strategy, contractability, and compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate with tech and analytics teams to implement data pipelines, scorecards, and platform-level enrichment.
  • Provide credit risk assessments, including model interpretation, credit grades, financial ratio analysis, and cashflow analysis.
  • Partner with relationship managers or business units in credit origination or decision formulation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 16-20 years of experience working in the credit bureau and data platform.
  • Deep domain knowledge in credit, marketing, fraud, and communication workflows leveraging bureau data.
  • Expertise in credit bureau data formats, scorecards, tradeline logic, consumer profiles, and match-merge algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with or within credit bureaus
  • Preferable to have worked with either of the companies like TU, EXPERIAN. EQUIFAX, NEUSTAR, DATASNAP, TRUSTID, MARKETSHARE.
  • Knowledge of customer lifecycle management, cross-sell/up-sell strategies, and fraud prevention analytics.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation, contact strategies, and customer outreach tools using bureau intelligence.
  • Master s degree in data science, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
